Marcosa Havanese is located in Elburn, Illinois a quaint town approximately 1 hour west of Chicago. It is here I, Hannah, live with my three children, and my very understanding husband, and of course, all my four legged kids. ( Click here to she our home and yard) The name Marcosa comes from the three most important people in my life, my beautiful children, Marie, Corinne, and Sarah.
First and foremost, I'd like to thank my wonderful mother for giving me my love of animals. As a child, I grew up with every imaginable kind of animal, dogs, cats, chinchilla, even a rescue raccoon named Bingo to name just a few! I can remember, as a small child, sitting on the kitchen floor peering into a whelp box in amazement watching as puppies were being born, and it is that same excitement and wonder I have seen numerous times light up the faces of my own children as they experience the miracle of a living creature being born. It is this love and experience of all animals that has molded me into the person I am today, and for that, I am truly thankful.
I wish I could say we were some extraordinary family, when in actuality, we are your typical family next door. I am a stay at home mom, sometimes I feel like a bus driver, with all the shuttling of the three kids, my husband works in the finance industry, and our three girls are in elementary school. I am most proud of my rescue work, there is no greater accomplishment than taking a terrified, helpless animal and nurturing it, giving it trust, patience, and truly loving it, and watching as that once trembling dog now bounds into your lap with kisses to say THANK YOU!!! (Please see my RESCUE PAGE) Worth Every Penny, has placed almost 60 dogs/puppies and 15 cat/kittens this year alone. A very special thank you to Jan Norton,of Turning Point Labradors, my very willing partner in this venture, who is always there, and when I think we just can't possibly save this dog, we have too many already in rescue, she always has the same answer " sure we can, if you go get them, I'll find room, what's one more!!" and somehow we always make it happen. I also need to thank my very tolerant husband, for putting up with a constant house full of dogs, the accidents, the chewing, the barking, but let's not forget all the kisses and true devotion they give us in return!
My children are very involved with our Havanese, they help with all the doggie chores and love to attend dog shows, in fact, Corinne, days after turning 6 walked in the show ring with Yallie for the first time!!! Won her puppy class, Reserve Bitch, took a group 1st for Best Puppy and a Reserve Best in Show for Best Puppy!!! As a mother I couldn't have been prouder!!! I love the quote "Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole."-Roger Caras, for our family this is so true, I can't imagine my life without our wonderful dogs!
I truly believe, they are our friends, our companions, our defenders, our dogs. You are their life, love, leader, and they will be yours, faithful and true, till the last beat of their heart. And at the very least, we owe it to them to be worthy of such devotion!!!!
